Appliance adapters connect a gas flue outlet on an appliance (water heater, boiler, etc.) to Z-Vent pipe of corresponding size. While the silicone sealing gasket inside the adapter allows for some minimal pipe (appliance flue outlet) OD variation (~1/16"), the actual OD must be as close to 3" or 4" as possible in order for the adapter to fit.
